The Rock Rundown

After the unseasonably warm weather including some 70 degree days,  our area received a little bit of Indiana winter reality with cold temperatures and snow returning yesterday morning.  We will be watching the forecast and will be open on a day-to-day basis.  The golf course will be closed at least through Tuesday, the 28th.

Our EPIC Fitting Day was non-stop action.  Every single participant was fitted into an Epic driver and/or fairway.  Can’t believe how good the #1 driver in golf really is!  Be sure and call for a fitting appointment when you decide you are ready to hit it straighter and farther.  Check out Todd’s video for maximizing driver efficiency.

Carts on President’s Day and Golf Course Update

UPDATE ON ROCK HOLLOW PRESEASON GOLF:  Because of the good weather forecast this weekend, Rock Hollow opened for play Friday, February 17, at noon for walking only.  We will be CART PATH ONLY on Monday, President’s Day.  Due to the warm forecast, we plan to have the golf course open as long as the weather cooperates.  However, the status of carts will be dependent on whether we get any rain this coming week.   The cost to play will be $20 (walking) and $30 (carts).

MASTERS COUNTDOWN — 50 DAYS: WHO HAS PLAYED AUGUSTA THE MOST?

The Masters starts in 50 days. How about that!

In honor of the 50-day mark, I want to look at which golfers have teed it up the most times at Augusta National in the history of this storied tournament. This April will mark the 80th Masters and a handful of golfers have played in over half of them. Here are your top four.

Gary Player — 52 Masters
Arnold Palmer — 50 Masters
Doug Ford — 49 Masters
Raymond Floyd — 46 Masters

Palmer actually played in 50 straight from 1955 to 2004. However, he last made a cut in 1983. As far as current golfers go, Tom Watson has played in 42. Sandy Lyle has 34. Both Bernhard Langer and Larry Mize have 32.

Couples has been competitive, too. He’s finished in the top 20 in five of the last six years, including a top 10 in 2010.

Todd’s Preseason Golf Tune-Up

WANT TO BE READY FOR THE 2017 GOLF SEASON?

Follow these 2 simple drills that will get you back in golf shape for the best season ever!

The goal of this two-part workout is to get the club in better positions and to increase speed.

  • Take an alignment stick or another swinging device and try to create a really loud “swoosh” sound at the bottom of your swing. As you do this, you will increase your club head speed which will lead to an increase in distance.
  • Take 100 slow practice swings everyday. This will not take very long and will make it easy for you to feel the club swinging in the proper positions. Mix in several swings with your eyes closed as you do this.

Stay tuned to this blog for more tips.
